Next Quarterly to Focus On Ancestor's Occupations

The next issue of our society Quarterly will focus on our ancestor's occupations. Since Labor Day is in September and the Quarterly will be published during that month, occupations as the theme seemed appropriate.

If you would like to contribute information, pictures, articles etc. for this issue or a future issue please contact Nancy Lasater, Quarterly Editor for the society. You can contact her through the society email at: mucogeso@yahoo.com.

Putting together the Quarterly is a big job so help Nancy out by contributing material for her to use!

You can look at the table of contents of previous issues of our Quarterly (clear back to 1983!) and also access the indexes to every issue on our website: http://www.okgenweb.org/~mcgs/

Joining the 21st Century

We've been needing to do this for awhile...moving on along with the changes on the Internet. Blogs have become a popular way for people to talk about things that interest them. For our genealogical society of course there are lots of things to talk about that interest us. We hope that this will be a good way for all of us to keep up with what is going on in the world of genealogy and for those who are not (dues paying) members of our society to know what we are doing and join us in the effort to preserve our area history and help others learn about it too.

At our Board meeting tonight, we talked about blogs. There are hundreds! of genealogy blogs online now ranging from the 'how to do' genealogy type to those discussing the research of individual genealogists. The general agreement was that most of the group aren't very familiar with them so Carol asked me to send her a list of my favorites. I thought it would be a good idea to start off sharing them here, so below is my list. I know you will enjoy them but don't stop with these! Each one provides links to more blogs that will tickle your interest.
